GAP is a Kinara Trust initiative

A school break shouldn't break a future.

In Tanzania, an annual eight-month education gap exposes thousands of girls to cycles of poverty, early pregnancy and child marriage. GAP turns this waiting period into a launchpad.

PROBLEM

Education gaps threaten bright young minds every year.

In Tanzania, an annual eight month gap between school years leaves girls vulnerable to early marriage, pregnancy, and low-wage labour. Without a structured learning environment, potential is lost.

SOLUTION

We turn this gap into
a launchpad.

The Girls Advancement Pathway (GAP) is a six-month intensive programme equipping girls with the autonomy and skills to navigate this transition safely.

We believe one girl has the power to change the world

Her future takes shape. She gains the skills and pathways to build a future on her own terms.

Her family shifts. Her siblings stay in school and marriage is deprioritised as parents see the power of her future.

Her community believes. Neighbours see her success and invest in their daughters. Early marriage and pregnancy rates fall.

Her society thrives. Educated women lead the way, growing local economies and dismantling systemic inequality.

OUR MODEL

More than a classroom. A toolkit for life.

Our curriculum is built for transformation - a foundation of safety, solid pillars of growth and a protective canopy of support. Everything a girl needs to stand tall.

REACH

Girls' education goes beyond individual opportunity. It's one of our most effective solutions to global challenges.

Breaking Poverty Cycles

Educating girls breaks intergenerational cycles of poverty. We know that educated mothers are twice as likely to send their own children to school, creating a multiplier effect that lifts entire families and communities.

Economic Growth

Educating girls provides vital skills to the workforce, drives economic growth and boosts innovation. By 2050, Africa will have a larger workforce than China and India combined. Yet, countries lose over $1 billion annually by failing to educate girls.

Healthier Communities

Educating girls creates healthier families and communities for generations. When mothers have a secondary education, child mortality drops by 50%.

Gender Equity

Educating girls breaks down barriers and empowers them to become leaders, decision-makers, and advocates for change. Educated women drive progress toward gender equality in their communities and beyond.

Safety and Protection

Each additional year of education reduces the risk of child marriage by 6%. Education gives girls the knowledge, confidence, and agency to make choices about their own futures.

Meet the 2025-26 Cohort

We selected our girls not for their circumstances, but for their refusal to be defined by them. They share one untaught trait: determination. That's what makes our girls extraordinary.

Their reality before GAP:

  • 100% face an 8-month gap in education.
  • 77% rarely or sometimes go to sleep full.
  • 30% have easy access to water.
  • 50+% walk over 10KM to school.

Together, let's turn this gap into a bridge to a brighter future.
